Fun Halloween Decor

I found this while looking up some crafts for kids for my day home I will be starting up in a few weeks. They're a little too tricky for little ones, but older kids (including myself) would enjoy this. They are very cute! I think they just may  be my new favorite Halloween decoration. I made mine from baby food jars. Tealights fit right inside them. But bigger jars can be used. Mikhayla loved making her ghost, it's the one on the far left with the square eyes and rectangular mouth :)

Sooo Cute!

If this doesn't make you want to go all Martha Stewart, I don't know what will! What a great
idea! I think this would make an awesome gift for Christmas...or maybe just a fun thing to have
around the house. What better way to play memory with your kids than with your own personalized
memory game!

Winter Wonderland....

On this lovely summer morning, yes, it's still technically summer lets not forget, we woke up to a nice blanket of snow on our front lawn. So, not only has mother nature teased us with our one week of really really nice weather, she is now throwing in some early September snow...gee thanks!
On a more positive note my lovely daughter will be turning 7 next week. Though it kind of makes me feel old, I am proud of all the things she's accomplished over the first 7 years of her life. Overcoming a lot of challenges that were thrown her way throughout the years.
It has been a fast 11 1/2 months on maternity leave, but sadly, my time off is coming to an end! As most of you know, I am starting up a day home and watching kids which makes this end of my time off a little less sad. I still get to stay home with my little man and do something I enjoy doing, hanging out with kids! This has prompted me to research crafts and fun stuff to do with the kids and in doing so, I have found some crafts of my own to do. The internet is full of amazing sites with some really great things to make. So don't be surprised if you get a Christmas gift from me this year that's hand made.
Lately, I've been on this DIY kick and wanting to do and make all these great things I find. It's a bit of a challenge to find time to do this with a 6 year old and a 10 month old, but I think I can manage. I have decided to start posting these on my blog to share.
Anyway, nothing really interesting to say here, just thought I'd update since I haven't written anything in quite sometime. It is also a challenge to write a blog when you have a little one. At the moment, he is distracted with an Arrowroot cookie...so that should spare me a minute or two!
I promise my next post will be more entertaining!
Happy Tuesday to you all!! xo

Where Is The Year Going?

So December is here and I haven't the slightest where the year has gone. I know it has in fact been a busy busy one. Since September hit it seems like the time has gone by twice as fast as before.
Mikhayla has done very well in school so far. Even with her speech and fine motor skills that are a little further behind than normal, she loves school and works very hard at learning new things. It's amazing what three months of school have done for her. She's made quite a few new friends and has already been to two birthday parties. On the 17th, she'll be preforming in her first Christmas concert. I am so proud of her! Of course, what parent isn't proud of their children. I just feel that she has a lot to overcome and has the strength and courage to do it.
Work keeps me busy and when I am not working, I am at photography class or taking pictures for someone and when I am not doing that I am taking care of my family at home. On that note, I guess it's not hard to see why at the age of 25, I have several gray hairs....yes, SEVERAL gray hairs. And all I want for Christmas is to not grow any older. In fact, I wouldn't mind going back a few years. Wishful thinking, I know. But a girl's got to try!
Chris is doing well, he's working up north at the moment and back tomorrow night. He's been in between jobs as the other job he was at has slowed down quite a bit!
Kind of scary, but shall make due. Thank goodness for those shut-downs!
Well, that's about it for the moment. Although I've left out a few months worth of news, seeing as my last post was in August, I must being getting to bed. Somewhere along the lines I stopped staying up so late. Still, I am not a morning person. Never really have been and I don't think I'll ever be one. Though who knows, now that I have gray hair, things could change drastically around here.

Off To School We Go!

Where to begin! As you can see I have been a neglecting the blog lately. A little for some weddings, which were all so fun. A little for my photography....okay, a LOT for my photography. A little for the beautiful weather we've had. Then there's this cute little four year old who likes to keep me on my toes. So I will do my best to keep you up to date and hopefully this isn't all old news for you!!
At the risk of repeating myself, I'd first like to share that I am going to photography classes at SAIT this winter. I am very excited and I have been practicing taking all sorts of photography shots and reading up on it as well. As I've said before, I am always looking for models! You know you want to!!! I feel like I have finally found something I am so passionate about and I look forward to growing as a photographer and possibly a business.
Mikhayla starts school in less than a month...27 days to be exact! I am not ready, in fact, I am having second thoughts. She doesn't really need to be in school right? Just kidding!! I am sure in the years to follow I will be singing the song "It's the most wonderful tie of the year!" when it's time for her to go back to the school but for the time being it just seems to me like she was a baby not too long ago....sniff sniff...and now she's...sniff sniff....going to school [insert hysterical crying and random babbling that no one can really understand here]. But I digress. She is ready for it and that's the main thing....I guess :)
I tell you though, this year has definitely been a year of change! It all started with Chris starting his own small business and working two weeks on and two off in the Northwest Territories to now pursuing a career with TRAK Enterprises...my step-dad's company. So basically, Chris has gone from being a welder to a trucker. I'm just happy that I get to smell his stinky feet every night when he comes home from work....I mean see him every night! Not only that, but both Mikhayla and I are in school this year, there's been two weddings in the family and far too much to mention in this one post. So far no family pregnancies and to answer the question, yes I know what you're thinking, there's no babies for us, yet! We are trying, so it's only a matter of time. Mikhayla has already put in her request for a little sister and I sure hope that if we ever have a boy that she's not too terribly disappointed!
On that note, I shall bring this riveting blog post to and end. Hopefully I can keep up so that all my posts aren't a month apart and a mile long! Thanks for checking up on us, I only hope that I haven't bored you to tears!
Love You All!! xoxo

P.S. For those of you who haven't checked out my site or haven't checked it out in a while I have attached my website link below. I am constantly adding new pictures, so be sure to bookmark it!!

Sunshine and Slip and Slides

So I've been slacking off a bit! But hey, it's finally slowed down a bit enough for me to gather up my thoughts and write a little.
The weather has finally smartened up and is beautiful out! Today I had a friend over for coffee and our daughters played in the pool and on the slip and slide. Even I went on the slip and slide and after last years discovery that the ground is not level and feels quite like sliding over a washboard I got a bit smarter and used the Sponge Bob floaty as a cushion for sliding.
With all the weddings this year, Mikhayla has been practicing tying the knot. I'm sure it time will fly and soon enough she will be walking down the isle, but lets not rush things! I'm still in denial that my daughter is already old enough for kindergarten!
Speaking of time flying, Chris went back up north yesterday. Another long two weeks ahead for all three of us for sure! We had a great time while he was, he came home and met me at our friends wedding. Mikhayla was with her Grandma Kelly and Grandpa Rod that weekend. Chris and I camped out at the hall in our trailer and had a bit of a headache the next day.
I have been putting all my pictures together in this neat little program I found on my computer. I have more pictures on my computer than I know what to do with! But it gave me a great idea. I figure I can start a business on the side creating DVDs of people pictures. We'll see where that goes...possibly where all my other ones go. I figure it's an easy start up, you don't have a lot of start up costs and it's something that a lot of people would want. So feel free to spread the word. I'll be sure to post my sample videos on here if it'll let me.
Anyways, I am going to go enjoy the rest of the evening. I have been going through all out old stuff for a garage sale on Saturday with a friend of mine so I haven't accomplished a whole lot. That and Chris will be calling any minute!
Cheers!! xox

Happy Monday!!

Well, today I have quit smoking for 5weeks! The urge to smoke has, for the most part, gone away. It was hard when Chris was home last time. He was not as successful, but he tells me he wants to try to quit again. So cross your fingers for that one!! I know I will!
He comes home on Wednesday night, but only for the night. Then he's back up for three more days. I still haven't really got used to him leaving, but it helps having Mikhayla to snuggle with now and then.
This weekend friends of ours are getting married. One of the seven weddings we've been invited to this year. As much as I'd love to make it to all of them, unfortunately we can't. Needless to say, this summer will go by fast.
The weekend after we will be camping east of Red Deer at Haunted Lake for about 4 days. I will definitely have to post some pictures and let you know how it is because the camping is only $7 a night for an unserviced site and $15 for a serviced site, free firewood, fishing, swimming and there is a 9 hole golf course at the campground as well. Should be lots of fun. This will be the second time we've went camping and hopefully not the last!
Unfortunately, this past week has been quite a sad one. Chris' Opa ended up in the hospital having a minor heart attack. He is doing better, but still in the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and we hope he has a speedy recovery!
So, looking forward to some (hopefully) sunny weather. Though now that I say that I've probably jinxed it. There's still quite a bit of the week yet so we shall see.
By the way, Mom, comments can be made at the bottom of this post. You should be able to click on comments and write away!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!!
Ally xoxo
